In Beginning...

The Matter of Origins

"My goal is simple. It is complete understanding of the universe, why it is as it is and why it exists at all."
 - Stephen Hawking

Scientists like Stephen Hawking have devoted many years of their lives searching for the answer to the question of the origin of the universe (and of life itself).

I first heard about professor Hawking years ago while reading an article on the Grand Unification Theory (GUT). Mr. Hawking, a brilliant quadriplegic, has been championing the cause for harmonizing the laws of electromagnetism and Newtonian gravitation.

Scientists say, when this is achieved, they will have a clear explanation of the origin of the universe.

It seems the more the answer eludes the scientific quest, the more curious the minds become in the search for an answer.

Meanwhile, those on the Creationist side of the divide continue to marvel, "How great Thou art!". It makes me wonder...

Why does modern science seek to deny and alienate God? It's true, there are many things that are beyond the real of science, and we've just got to admit it.

The Bible says, "In the beginning God...", and Isaac Newton never had a problem with that. Albert Einstein acknowledged there is a creator God. Many of the brilliant minds contributing to science and medicine today do not find a conflict between true science and the existence of a Supernatural.

For me, science is all the more wonderful, and amazing, as I realize that a creator God started all this! Read about the first big bang and the next big bang. Scientists may be right about the big bang, but do they know why?

The Age of Mother Earth

Another matter of controversy has to do with the question of "how old is the earth?" Is it 20 billion years old, 5 million years old, 6 thousand years old, or what?

If you were God...

Sometimes we think of the Creator God as just a nice "buddy". True, God is a Friend (Job 16:20), but God is God. However, try to imagine how you'd relate if you could 'put your foot in his shoes'... if you were God.
